Changing Literacy offers my take on issues on how literacy is changing in today's society. I'm Sharon Murphy, a professor in the Faculty of Education at York University. I'm interested in how we go about reading, writing, and representing ideas--basically I am interested in how we engage with texts. I use the term "texts" generously to mean representations we create to signify meaning. I have a particular interest in assessment, especially assessment of literacy.

Changing Literacy will feature short book commentaries, some of my own publications, links to interesting sites, writing tips, and observations about education in the news. Changing Literacy also offers tips for people who wish to improve their writing for academic purposes; it's a very practical side and realtes to some of the work I have done in the past as part of my university duties.
